Prayers of Intercession
November 23, 2008
With the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, let us pray for the church, those in need, and all of God's creation.
O Lord, our great shepherd, open our eyes to see the needs of the least among us; open our hearts to welcome them as you have done; open our calendars and wallets to share our time and resources to meet their needs. Help us break the cycle of selfishness, and lead lives that give you the glory.
Lord in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
O Christ, you are our king. We exalt you and praise your name, for you have done wonderful things. Calm the fears created by the economic crisis which cosumes us. Inspire us to continue the financial support of your church, which is the one constant presence in a sea of uncertainty. Fill us with hope in you.
Lord in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
O God of mercy, bring your healing touch to all the members of our congregation in need, including: Liz and family, Nancy and family, Lacey, Ron, Fonda, Arbutus, Dave, Kevin, Marcy, Jerry, Trish and Dave, Claude, Betty, Dottie and Frank, Nick, Scott and all service personnel and their families. We also pray for the unemployed and for those facing the possibility of job loss. Support them, sustain them, and heal them.
Lord in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
Great Lord, we ask you to watch over our country's leaders, both current and newly elected. We pray that their rulings are fair and just, and that they model your spirit of compassion for all.
Lord in your mercy: Hear our prayer.
Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
