Any person/family who desires to join Grace Lutheran Church is encouraged to contact one of the pastors and learn what is involved in active membership. New Member Gathering orientation sessions are held regularly to acquaint interested persons/families with the people and programs of Grace. Baptism: 2009 Baptism Schedule (in pdf)

Christian baptism is one of two sacraments (the other being Holy Communion) in the Lutheran tradition, and exists primarily to proclaim the grace of God that we know in Jesus Christ. In the words and water of baptism, we are declared children of God, members of the church of Jesus Christ. Only by the nurture of the church community does the seed of faith planted in baptism grow into maturity.

Pastor-led baptism preparation classes are offered both for parents of infants and for older children, and adults who have not been baptized in the Christian faith. Baptism Preparation classes meet every three months (first Sunday) in Koinonia Hall, from 12-Noon unti 2:00 p.m. The following dates are the scheduled classes for 2009. (Parents wanting to schedule their first baptism at Grace must attend a baptism preparation class prior to the baptism.)

We invite families to also attend the 11:00 a.m. service prior to the class. The class will consist of a light lunch, an introduction and informational piece from our Children, Youth & Families staff, and a teaching piece from Pastor Therese Helker on the Lutheran understanding of baptism. Child care will be available during the informational and teaching pieces. Registration for the class and child care reservations are required in advance. Please call Kathy in the office to register for both th class and child care.

Baptisms are the held the second Sunday of the month at all services and the following Wednesday service at 5:45 p.m. Please call the church office to schedule a baptism. Baptism brochures are available at the Welcome Center.

Grace Lutheran Church can help you in the preparations for your wedding and marriage. As you come to the altar of the church, you are asking God to meet you here, where we offer worship, praise and thanksgiving to God. As you seek to come together in marriage, we will work with you to create a deeply meaningful event within the context of worship.

Before booking your reception site, please check with the church as soon as possible - ideally nine months to a year before the date needed - for availability of the pastors and church. Each couple will also participate in the Marriage Preparation class.

A non-refundable deposit of $100 payable to Grace Lutheran Church will secure the date you arrange with the wedding coordinator.

All weddings at Grace are conducted by the pastoral staff of the church or by pastors invited by the couple, in conversation with the Grace pastors. The wedding coordinator will work with you to coordinate your wedding plans with the church.

Persons/couples who are not members of Grace Lutheran Church are still encouraged to talk to one of the pastors, or the wedding coordinator about the availability of the church for their wedding.
